Description of the processor

The AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is currently the cheapest entry into AMDs new AM5 platform. As with Intel, AMD uses the "F" in the product name to identify processors without an integrated GPU. The normal Ryzen 7000 processors have an iGPU for the first time; previously all normal Ryzen processors were only available without a GPU.

The base clock frequency of the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is 3.7 GHz; in Turbo mode, the clock frequency can be increased to 5.0 GHz. AMDs Zen 4 is used as the CPU architecture, which now supports DDR5 RAM and the latest PCIe 5.0 standard on the new AM5 platform.

Up to 128GB of DDR5-5200 memory is supported, with a maximum memory bandwidth of 83.2GB/s. Unofficially, as with Intel, significantly higher clock frequencies for the RAM are also possible. The AMD Ryzen 5 7500F also supports ECC memory if the motherboard also supports it.

The AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is manufactured using a 5 nm manufacturing process, although the production itself is not carried out by AMD, but by the Taiwanese contract manufacturer TSMC. The L3 cache is 32 MB, identical to the Ryzen 5000 previous generation.

The TDP of the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is 65 watts, with the standard processor consuming up to 88 watts of energy in the long term. The efficiency of the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F is only about on par with the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, which is a last-generation 8-core processor and, at 92 watts, achieves a roughly the same rating in the Cinebench R23 multi-core benchmark.

A significant leap in efficiency on the AM5 platform only begins with the newer 8-core processors, e.g. with the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, which only consumes slightly less energy at 105 watts, but achieves up to 30 percent more performance. The X3D processors, for example in the form of the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, are even more efficient.
