Benchmarks

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the successor to the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which is popular with gamers. Like its predecessor, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D can also use a significantly larger level 3 cache. Instead of 32 MB level 3 cache (AMD Ryzen 7 7700X), the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has a full 96 MB level 3 cache.

In synthetic benchmarks like Cinebench R23 or Geekbench 5, the larger cache doesnt matter. In games, however, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D can place itself well ahead of the normal Ryzen 7 processors. The advantage increases at high frame rates and low resolutions.

All other technical data are similar to those of the normal Ryzen 7000 processors. The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D comes with 8 CPU cores that can process 16 threads in parallel. It is overclockable and can increase its clock frequency in turbo mode (AMD PBO2) up to 5.0 GHz. The base clock is 4.2 GHz. The core architecture "Zen 4" is also state-of-the-art.

Like all other AMD Ryzen 7000 desktop processors, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D also comes with a small integrated graphics (iGPU). Specifically, an AMD Radeon Graphics with only 2 execution units is installed here, which is primarily used for graphics output. The iGPU is not fast enough for gaming.

Up to 128 GB of DDR5-5200 RAM can be installed, with the so-called sweet spot of the Ryzen 7000 processors being slightly faster DDR5-5600 or DDR5-6000 modules. These can be automatically overclocked with the AMD EXPO profile, provided the modules support this.

External devices such as a dedicated graphics card can be connected via PCIe 5.0. This also applies to fast M.2 SSDs that can be connected with PCIe 5.0 or PCIe 4.0.

The TDP of the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is 120 watts, whereby the processor can consume up to 170 watts, provided the cooling and temperature of the processor allow it.
