Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-12600KF is a 12th generation desktop processor from Intel. It was released in the fourth quarter of 2021 and is based on the Intel socket LGA 1700. It is based on the Alder Lake S architecture and is manufactured with a structure width of 10 nanometers. The ISA extensions SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX2, AVX2+ and the virtualization technologies VT-x, VT-x EPT, VT-d are supported.

The processor is based on a hybrid core architecture (big.LITTLE) in which 4 efficiency cores are used in addition to 6 performance cores. The performance cores (Golden Cove) support Hyperthreading, have a basic clock frequency of 3.70 gigahertz and can increase the clock rate to up to 4.90 gigahertz in turbo mode. The efficiency cores (Gracemont) are used when no power is required, which means that they contribute to more efficient power consumption. The cores do not support hyperthreading and both the basic clock frequency of 2.80 gigahertz and the maximum turbo clock of 3.60 gigahertz are significantly lower than in the performance cores. The "K" in the processor designation also indicates that the processor has a free multiplier and can therefore be overclocked with suitable cooling.

The second letter "F" in the name of the processor shows that the Intel Core i5-12600KF does not have an internal graphics unit and can therefore only be operated with a dedicated graphics solution (e.g. NVIDIA GeForce, AMD Radeon). To connect these, the processor has 20 PCI Express lines in version 5.0.
