          First Geekbench 5 benchmark of the Intel Core i7-13700K

          Last week we already reported on the new Intel Core i7-13700K processor from Intel, which is expected in autumn 2022. With 8+8 CPU cores (24 threads), the Intel Core i7-13700K should have the same configuration as last year's Intel Core i9-12900K. With this, Intel wants to finally clear AMD's lead in multi-core performance, which has existed for several years.

          According to an internal Intel slide published at the end of last year, the Intel Core i7-13700K could have 8+8, i.e. 16 CPU cores that provide 24 threads. The interesting thing about the slide is that it was recently confirmed by newer leaks of the Intel Core i9-13900K and the Intel Core i5-13600K as the number of cores and also the size of the cache matches with recently published CPU-Z screenshots of alleged development models.

          The AMD Ryzen 5 5500 (6C 12T) is currently enjoying great popularity and is currently one of the best-selling processors for AMD's Socket AM4 platform.

          But why is the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 so cheap and what disadvantages does the buyer have to accept? We clarify that in this article. But first we have to dive a little into the technology of the current Zen 3 processors in order to understand what kind of exotic cpu AMD has actually created with the AMD Ryzen 5 5500.

          AMD CPUs


          AMD manufactures its current Ryzen 5000 processors with Zen 3 CPU cores in a modern 7nm process. The production takes place at the contract manufacturer TSMC. The new AMD Ryzen processors are currently the fastest desktop processors.

          With the internal graphics unit (iGPU) of the processors, Intel is now back on par with AMD with the new Intel Xe graphics, which in the current Cezanne APUs (Ryzen 5000G) still use the older AMD RDNA architecture.

          Only the next APUs from AMD (code name Van Gogh) will be based on the new RDNA2 architecture. This is already being used in the new graphics cards and also the XBox Series S / X and Playstation 5 game consoles.

          Intel CPUs


          Intel's new CPU architecture is used in the desktop processors (Core i 3/5/7/9) of the 11th generation ("Rocket Lake"). Intel was able to significantly increase the raw performance per cycle. It is just behind AMD's current Ryzen 5000 processors with Zen 3 cores.

          The "Tiger Lake" mobile processors use the same CPU architecture, but are already manufactured in 10 nm, while the desktop processors are still manufactured in 14 nm. They are fast and efficient and roughly on par with the current AMD "Cezanne" mobile processors (Ryzen 5000).

          In the new processors, Intel relies on the Intel Xe graphics, which have been promising a significant performance boost again since years of standstill.
