In the AMD Ryzen 3 series, AMD bundles its entry-level processors in the lower price segment. AMD offers the AMD Ryzen processors in four different series: AMD Ryzen 3, AMD Ryzen 5, AMD Ryzen 7 and AMD Ryzen 9. The smallest processors here are the AMD Ryzen 3 processors for the desktop and for the mobile area. They are still located above the AMD Athlon processors and offer reasonable computing power for relatively little money. The performance is sufficient to start most applications smoothly. Processors from the larger AMD Ryzen series are more suitable for PC gamers.

The AMD Ryzen 3 processors are developed solely by AMD, but the processors are manufactured by TSMC in Taiwan. The AMD Ryzen 3 processors support a maximum of 64 GB of RAM of type DDR4-3200. The PCI Express interface is supported in version PCIe 3.0, larger AMD Ryzen processors can use the current version PCIe 5.0, which, for example, can address fast SSDs or graphics cards with twice the bandwidth. The processors can address the main memory in a maximum of two channels, there are no differences to the larger AMD Ryzen processors. Intel still relies on a dual-channel interface for its Intel Core i series.

The AMD Ryzen 3 processors are also very economical and cheap to produce due to their reduced number of cores (usually 4 CPU cores). The clock frequencies of the AMD Ryzen 3 processors are maximum 4.2 GHz. However, since the newer models can process up to 8 threads, the CPU performance is still sufficient.

In the mobile area, the AMD Ryzen 3 processors are used in the lower segment and form a solid basis for sufficiently fast notebooks. The integrated graphics unit of the AMD Ryzen 3 processors is only sufficient for older games, but almost all modern video codecs are supported in the hardware, which, for example, reduces energy consumption when watching a video and ensures longer battery life.
