News and articles for the Intel Core i5-13600KF

Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-13600KF has 14 CPU cores, which are divided into 6 performance cores (P cores) and 8 efficiency cores (E cores). The P cores are based on the Raptor Cove architecture and are similarly fast per clock cycle (IPC) compared to their predecessors. However, Intel was able to increase the speed of its 13th generation Intel Core i processors by significantly increasing the clock frequencies.

The E cores of the Intel Core i5-13600KF are based on the same architecture (Gracemont) as in the previous model, the Intel Core i5-12600KF. However, Intel has doubled the number of E cores in the Intel Core i5-13600KF from 4 to 8 now. This enabled the Intel Core i5-13600KF to increase by almost 30 percent compared to the previous model, especially in multi-core applications.

In single-core applications, the new CPU is only 5 percent faster than the Intel Core i5-12600KF on average. This is particularly noticeable in computer games. The clock frequency is a maximum of 5.1 GHz in turbo mode while the base clock is 3.5 GHz.

The higher clock frequencies and the doubling of the E cores also increase the energy consumption of the processor. The TDP (PL1) is 125 watts, but the processor almost always operates at its TDP (PL2) of 181 watts in multi-core scenarios.

The Intel Core i5-13600KF supports DDR4 and DDR5 memory up to a speed of DDR4-3200 or DDR5-5600. As with almost all modern desktop processors from AMD and Intel, modules with faster speeds can also be installed. Up to 128 GB of RAM is supported. When using two DDR5-5600 memory modules in dual-channel mode, the memory bandwidth is 89.6 GB per second.

The processor supports the new PCIe 5.0 interface with 20 lines. As of 2022, however, all published graphics cards still use the PCIe 4.0 interface, with which the processor is backwards compatible.
