Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-12400T is a processor of the 12th Core i generation from Intel with a limited power limit (TDP). It is based on Intels "Alder Lake S" CPU architecture. In contrast to many other processors of this generation, the Intel Core i5-12400T only relies on 6 P cores. There are no smaller E cores.

The Intel Core i5-12400T clocks its six CPU cores at a fairly low 1.8 GHz. In Turbo mode, up to 4.2 GHz under load on one CPU core is possible. A maximum of 3.0 GHz is achieved in multi-core loads. Since all six cores support Intel Hyper-Threading technology, the processor can process a maximum of 12 threads at the same time.

The Intel UHD Graphics 730 is installed as an integrated graphics solution in the Intel Core i5-12400T. However, with only 24 execution units and 192 shaders and a maximum clock speed of 1.45 GHz, the graphics performance is very limited. The Intel UHD Graphics 730 is not suitable for more modern computer games.

The Intel Core i5-12400T supports up to 128 GB of RAM. All Intel processors for the LGA 1700 socket support both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, depending on the mainboard used. With DDR5-4800 memory, a maximum memory bandwidth of 76.8 GB/s can be achieved in dual-channel mode.

External devices such as a dedicated graphics card or fast M.2 SSD drives can be addressed via PCIe 5.0 with up to 20 PCIe outputs. Depending on the mainboard and chipset, PCIe 4.0 can also be used.

The TDP of the Intel Core i5-12400T is 35 watts, a maximum of 74 watts is possible in PL2 mode. The T processors usually have significantly reduced clock frequencies and therefore require less energy. In this state, the processors can work a little more efficiently than the higher clocked, normal versions.
