Description of the processor

With the Intel Core i5-11600K, the manufacturer Intel offers a desktop processor for gamers. Its 6 CPU cores can process up to 12 threads via Hyper-Threading, which makes it suitable for more demanding tasks like video or image editing, even apart from games. The Intel Core i5-11600K clocks its CPU cores with 3.8 GHz in the base. If required, it can increase the clock rate up to 4.5 GHz (single core load) or still 4.3 GHz (load on multiple cores).

The Intel Core i5-11600K is approved for overclocking as a "K" model and has a free multiplier. If you have a sufficiently good cooling solution in your system, you can increase the processors clock rates even further to get even more CPU performance.

The newly developed Intel Iris Xe Graphics 32 (Rocket Lake S) is used as internal graphics. However, Intel has stitched together the actually quite fast Xe graphics in the "Rocket Lake" desktop processors badly, since it was actually developed for a structure width of 10 nm. However, since the Intel Core i5-11600K, like all "Rocket Lake" processors, is a backport to the older 14 nm manufacturing (very likely due to production bottlenecks in Intels 10 nm manufacturing), the manufacturer had to cut the CPUs clock frequency as well as the iGPU a bit.

Thus, the Intel Core i5-11600K also only has 12 MB of Level 3 cache, which is quite little compared to the competition. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, for example, has a whopping 32 MB of Level 3 cache. In addition to 128 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM (overclocking is also possible here if desired), the new Rocket Lake processors can now also handle PCIe 4.0 and provide 16 PCIe lines for connecting a dedicated graphics card or other devices.
