Monero Hashrate kH/s

The crypto currency Monero has been using the RandomX algorithm since November 2019. This PoW (proof of work) algorithm can only efficiently be calculated using a processor (CPU) or a graphics card (GPU). The CryptoNight algorithm was used for Monero until November 2019, but it could be calculated using ASICs. RandomX benefits from a high number of CPU cores, cache and a fast connection of the memory via as many memory channels as possible. Tested with XMRig v6.x under the operation system HiveOS.

Both the AMD Ryzen 5 5600x as well as its counterpart of Intel Core I5-11600K are modern middle-class desktop processors. Both are equipped with 6 CPU cores and support Hyper Threading (Intel) or Simultaneous Multi-Threading (AMD). Therefore, both processors can work 12 threads.

The clock frequency of the AMD Ryzen 5 5600x is 3.7 GHz. About turbo mode, the processor can dynamically increase its clock frequency. So on a CPU core up to 4.6 GHz, at all cores, after all 4.2 GHz is possible. The processor is overclocked like almost all AMD desktop processors. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600x is based on AMDs "Zen 3" core design and is manufactured in 7 nm.

The Intel Core i5-11600K therefore comes with a base clock of 3.9 GHz, but this can increase its clock frequency but over the turbo mode. A single CPU core can clock the processor with up to 4.9 GHz, at load on all cores are still 4.5 GHz possible. The Intel Core i5-11600K is also over-handable. Unlike AMD, Intel has to be purchased with a "K" product in the product name to overclock the processor.

The Intel Core i5-11600K is based on Intel's "Rocket Lake S" architecture that is produced in a 14 nm method. Actually, Intel wanted to roll out this architecture in 10 Nm and was then forced to a baking port to 14 nm due to production issues.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X has no internal graphics card (IGPU) and necessarily requires a dedicated graphics card to display an image on a monitor. The Intel Core i5-11600K, however, brings the Intel UHD Graphics 750 IGPU, which brings little computing power, but at least for simple applications or watching videos is sufficient.

Both processors support 128 GB DDR4-3200 memory in two memory channels. The memory bandwidth is located on both platforms at about 55 GB per second.
