Description of the processor

The Intel Core i3-12100 came onto the market in the first quarter of 2022 and is based on the LGA 1700 socket. It can therefore be used in any mainboard with this socket, but when equipping the mainboard you should also consider the features of the processor , because it is of no use if the mainboard has various PCIe slots, but the processor does not have enough lanes for connection.

The processor is manufactured using the 10-nanometer process and is based on the Alder Lake S architecture. This is a CPU with 4 identical cores that have a basic clock frequency of 3.30 gigahertz. In turbo mode, the clock increases to up to 4.30 gigahertz, but only when a single core is loaded. The processor supports Hyperthreading technology, which means that it has 8 threads in addition to the 4 cores.

The Intel Core i3-12100 is equipped with an internal graphics unit. The Intel UHD Graphics 730, which was released in the first quarter of 2021, is used here. It is still manufactured using the 14-nanometer process and has a base clock of 0.30 gigahertz. The maximum dynamic clock frequency is 1.40 gigahertz and with its 24 execution units and 192 shader units it achieves a theoretical FP32 computing power of 538 GigaFLOPS. The graphics unit from the twelfth generation of Intels integrated graphics solutions can use up to 64 gigabytes of the built-in RAM as graphics memory.

You can either use DDR4-3200 modules or the newer DDR5-4800 type RAM. With the 2 existing memory channels, up to 128 gigabytes of RAM can be operated with the Intel Core i3-12100. The maximum bandwidth that the main memory can achieve in connection with the processor is 76.8 GB/s.

The processor has 20 PCIe lanes in version 5.0 for connecting internal expansion cards.
