V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The Intel Core i9-10900KF is a 10 core processor from Intel, which can process up to 20 threads through the use of Hyper-Threading. Together with the Intel Core i9-10900, it forms the spearhead of the Comet Lake S desktop processors from Intel. The processor can be overclocked very easily thanks to the open multiplier.

The Intel Core i9-10900KF can clock its 10 cores with up to 4.9 GHz, the base clock is a high 3.7 GHz. In single-core operation, up to 5.2 or 5.3 GHz are possible with Turbo Boot 3.0. This allows the CPU to increase its clock rate extremely and is one of the fastest processors in single-core load scenarios.

The CPU can access a 20 MB level 3 cache and supports up to 128 GB of RAM in four banks. The dual-channel mode when using at least two main memory modules is supported and doubles the theoretical memory bandwidth of the main memory. Officially, a maximum of DDR4-2933 is supported, but XMP memory profiles also allow much higher clock frequencies of the memory.

The Intel Core i9-10900KF does not have an integrated graphics unit. Since the processor is mostly used in high-end gaming computers or workstations, the omission of the iGPU is usually not a tragedy, since a dedicated GPU is built into such a computer anyway.

The Intel Core i9-10900KF is specified with 125 watts TDP, but consumes significantly more energy under load. Intel sets the power limits for the Comet Lake S processors significantly higher, so that the processors can consume up to 250 watts of energy over 1 minute. Of course, this requires good cooling. In order for the processors to run stably anyway, Intel had to convert the socket by a few pins for more stable power consumption when increasing the CPU cores to up to 10. However, the new LGA1200 socket is compatible with older CPU fans for sockets 1151, 1151 v2 and 1155.

Leaderboards

In our leaderboards, we have clearly compiled the best processors for specific categories for you. The leaderboards are always up to date and are regularly updated by us. The best processors are selected according to popularity and speed in benchmarks as well as the price-performance ratio.
