Geekbench 6 (Single-Core)

Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

News and articles for the Intel Core i9-12900KF

Description of the processor

The Intel Core i9-12900KF comes from the twelfth generation of Intels Core i9 series and is based on the so-called big.LITTLE structure. For the Intel Core i9-12900KF, this means that 8 performance cores of the "Golden Cove" type are used together with 8 efficiency cores of the "Gracemont" type. The 8 high-performance cores clock at 3.20 gigahertz and you can increase your clock rate to up to 5.20 gigahertz in turbo mode. The energy-saving efficiency cores, on the other hand, only clock at 2.40 gigahertz and the maximum turbo clock is 3.90 gigahertz. The processor supports hyperthreading technology, but only the performance cores, which means that the Intel Core i9-12900KF has a maximum of 24 threads in addition to 16 physical cores.

The "F" in the processor designation indicates that the Intel Core i9-12900KF does not have an internal graphics unit and can therefore only be operated with a dedicated graphics card. For example, the high-end graphics cards GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 from NVIDIA or the Radeon RX 6800 and Radeon RX 6900 from AMD, which will be available during the release of the processor, come into question here. The graphics cards can be connected via the 20 available Version 5 PCI Express lines.

The Intel Core i9-12900KF supports the operation of up to 128 gigabytes of DDR4-3200 or the newer DDR5-4800 standard. It achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of 76.8 GB/s.

The processor was released in the fourth quarter of 2021, just in time for the Christmas business, and uses the new Intel socket LGA 1700, which means that it can be used on all boards with this socket. It is manufactured using the 10-nanometer process and has a 30.00 megabyte level 3 cache. The predecessor of this processor is the Intel Core i9-11900KF, which is still based on an architecture with 8 cores of the same size and 16 threads.
