V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H is a mobile processor for the upscale segment of AMD. It has 6 CPU cores and supports simultaneous multi-threading (also known as hyper-threading). It can work up to 12 CPU threads in parallel. His cores clocks in the base with 3.3 GHz. The so-called "turbo mode" allows the mobile processor to adapt its clock frequency dynamically to the respective situation and thus increase its clock frequency beyond the base clock.

A maximum of 4.2 GHz are possible at load on only one CPU core. If all 6 CPU cores are loaded, high 3.8 GHz is still possible for a mobile processor. The processor is also suitable for stronger applications or (in interaction with a dedicated graphics card) also for higher-quality games.

Its internal graphics of the type AMD Radeon 6 Graphics (Renoir) has 6 execution units and 384 shaders. With a graphics bluh power of 1.2 tflops, older games in medium resolutions can usually be played smoothly. Unfortunately, the free video CODEC AV1 can not be decoded in hardware because the IGPU is still on the AMD RDNA (1st Gen). The codec is supported by AMD from the 2nd RDNA Generation.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H can handle up to 64 GB of work memory from type DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4-4266. It has two memory channels and supports the "dual-channel" mode, which doubles the memory bandwidth when using at least two memory modules.

With a TDP of 45 watts and the possibility to raise these up to 54 watts, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600H belongs to the more powerful mobile processors. It is therefore usually used in higher-quality notebooks from the middle price segment. Its CPU cores are based on the "AMD Zen 3" cores connected in the APU under the name "Cezanne" with the AMD Radoen 6 Graphics (Renoir).
