Geekbench 6 (Single-Core)

Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600U was released in the first quarter of 2021 and comes from the fourth generation of mobile Ryzen 5 processors. It is based on the Zen 3 architecture, codenamed Cezanne, and is manufactured with a structure width of 7 nanometers. The processor has a 3.00 megabyte level 2 cache and a 16.00 megabyte level 3 cache.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600U is a hexa-core processor, i.e. a processor with 6 physical cores that, thanks to the support of the Hyperthreading architecture, has 12 computing threads. The cores have a base clock of 2.30 gigahertz and can increase this clock frequency to up to 4.20 gigahertz in turbo mode. The processor, which is mainly used in notebooks and is based on the FP6 socket, cannot be overclocked.

With the AMD Radeon 7 Graphics of the Renoir series, an internal graphics unit is used that was installed in a processor for the first time 1 year earlier, in the first quarter of 2020. It has 7 execution units with a total of 448 shaders and is also manufactured using the 7-nanometer process. The Renoir graphics is 1.80 gigahertz and thus achieves an FP32 computing power of 1612 gigaflops. It supports the operation of up to 3 screens, whereby the maximum resolution and refresh rate depends on the existing connections and on the number of screens used.

When it comes to RAM, manufacturers can choose between normal DDR4-3200 and the more efficient LPDDR4-4266 modules. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600U has 2 memory channels that can be used to control up to 32 gigabytes of RAM. In addition, the AMD processor also supports memory with automatic error correction (ECC memory).

Various expansion cards can be connected via the 12 existing PCI Express lanes.
