V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

News and articles for the Intel Core i7-10850H

The Intel Core i7-10850H is a six-core mobile processor from Intel. Its basic clock frequency is 2.7 GHz, but the processor can increase its clock frequency via the so-called turbo mode. The maximum turbo frequency (single core) is 5.1 GHz. If several CPU cores are utilized, up to 3.4 GHz are still possible.

The processor supports Intel Hyperthreading Technology and can therefore process 2 threads per CPU core simultaneously. With 6 CPU cores, tasks can be processed in a maximum of 12 threads at the same time. This makes the Intel Core i7-10850H suitable for more demanding applications and computer games.

The Intel Core i7-10850H has an internal graphics unit, also called iGPU. With the Intel UHD Graphics 630, however, an old and not very fast graphics architecture is used here, which is actually only intended to display an image on the monitor. Smaller computer games can also be played in low resolutions and details. However, better and up-to-date computer games require a dedicated graphics card, since the iGPU is simply too slow for this.

The Intel Core i7-10850H supports up to 128 GB of DDR4-2933 RAM. These can be addressed via up to two modules in dual-channel mode. In dual-channel mode, two DDR4-2933 modules achieve a bandwidth of up to 45.8 GB/s. External devices such as a dedicated graphics card or an M.2 SSD can be connected to the system via the 16 PCIe 3.0 lines.

The processor has a TDP of 45 watts, but can consume more energy under certain circumstances. The main factors here are the cooling solution and the size of the notebook. Conversely, the Intel Core i7-10850H can also be operated with a reduced TDP of 35 watts, e.g. if it is a light and thin notebook.
