V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The mobile processor AMD Ryzen 5 5625U comes from the AMD Barcelo architecture and is based on 6 CPU cores of the same size. It supports simultaneous multi-threading and can process 2 threads per CPU core. A total of 12 threads are therefore available at the same time.

The clock frequency is 2.3 GHz. However, this can be increased to up to 4.3 GHz in single-core operation or 3.4 GHz under load on all CPU cores via the turbo mode. The AMD Ryzen 5 5625U is specified with a TDP of 15 watts and is used in smaller and thin notebooks.

The TDP can be increased by the notebook manufacturer up to 25 watts, which slightly increases the CPU performance. In addition, the performance of the internal graphics unit (iGPU) is increased with an increased TDP. The iGPU is the AMD Radeon 7 Graphics (Renoir), which has 7 execution units and 448 shaders and also has a fairly decent graphics performance with 1.4 GFLOP/s.

The iGPU is sufficient to render older or partly current games smoothly in low to medium resolutions. A stronger, dedicated graphics solution is required for modern AAA titles.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5625U is installed in the low to mid-range price segment and is quite sufficient for working smoothly and surfing the web. Applications like Adobe Photoshop also run fast enough on the mobile processor.

Up to 32 GB of RAM (DDR4-3200) is supported in two memory channels. When fully equipped with DDR4-3200 memory modules, a maximum bandwidth of 51.2 GB per second is achieved. External devices can be connected to the system via PCIe 3.0 with up to 12 lines.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5625U has a 16 MB level 3 cache and is soldered to the notebooks mainboard in socket FP6. It is therefore not interchangeable afterwards.
