Benchmarks

The Intel Core i7-12700F was released in the first quarter of 2022 and is from the 12th generation of Intel Core i7 series. With the twelfth generation of its i processors, Intel is using a big.LITTLE structure for the first time, in which further efficiency cores are used in addition to the normal performance cores. In the case of the Intel Core i7-12700F, there are 8 performance cores of the "Golden Cove" type and 4 efficiency cores of the "Gracemont" type. The "Golden Cove" cores clock at up to 4.90 gigahertz and the efficiency cores clock significantly lower at up to 3.60 gigahertz.

The processor is manufactured using the improved 10-nanometer process and is designed for the desktop/server area. It can be installed on any mainboard with the new LGA 1700 socket and has a level 2 cache of 12.00 megabytes and a level 3 cache of 25.00 megabytes.

The "F" in the name of the Intel Core i7-12700F indicates that this processor does not have an internal graphics unit and can therefore only be operated with a dedicated graphics card. Here, for example, the Radeon models from AMD or the GeForce cards from NVIDIA come into question, which can be connected via the 20 existing PCI Express lines in version 5.0.

The Intel Core i7-12700F has 2 memory channels with which the processor is able to control up to 128 gigabytes of RAM. It officially supports modules of the DDR4-3200 type and the newer DDR5-4800 standard. The maximum theoretical memory bandwidth is 76.8 GB/s and memory with automatic error correction (ECC memory) is not supported by the Intel Core i7-12700F.

The standard TDP (power limit 1) is 65 watts and the extended power limit 2 is 180 watts. The maximum temperature before the CPU automatically clocks down is 100 degrees Celsius.
