The Intel Core i9-12900H is a fast mobile processor from Intel. The CPU is based on Intels Alder Lake architecture and has a total of 14 CPU cores that are laid out in a hybrid layout. This consists of six large P-cores from the Golden Cove architecture and 8 smaller and more economical E-cores from the Gracemont architecture.

The combination of large and small CPU cores is intended to increase the efficiency of the processor and enable more CPU cores in a smaller space. The P cores have a clock frequency of 2.5 to 5.0 GHz, the E cores are clocked lower at 1.8 to 3.8 GHz. Since only the large P-cores support Intels Hyper-Threading technology, the Intel Core i9-12900H can process a total of 20 threads in parallel.

Like most mobile processors, the Intel Core i9-12900H is not overclockable. Since the processor can absorb up to 115 watts of energy in the standard configuration, this is not a disadvantage, as more heat cannot be sensibly dissipated in a notebook.

The Intel Core i9-12900H has the largest expansion level of Intel iGPUs with the Intel Iris Xe Graphics 96. With 96 execution units and 768 texture shaders, the integrated graphics achieve a graphics performance of approximately 2.2 TFLOPS. In addition to applications and video processing, the iGPU is also suitable for older or less demanding computer games. AAA games still require dedicated graphics.

The Intel Core i9-12900H can address a maximum of 64 GB of RAM. A large selection of memory modules are supported with DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4 and LPDDR5. In dual-channel mode, the Intel Core i9-12900H achieves a maximum memory bandwidth of approx. 83.2 GB/s when using LPDDR5-5200 memory modules.

The Intel Core i9-12900H can connect external devices such as a graphics card via PCIe 4.0 with up to 28 PCIe lines.
