Description of the processor

The Intel Core i7-11800H is a premium 11th generation mobile processor from Intel. Like its larger Intel Core i9 counterparts, the Intel Core i7-11800H also has eight CPU cores and can process a total of 16 threads simultaneously thanks to Hyper-Threading support.

The processors TDP is 45 watts (35 watts TDP down). Thats enough to make good use of the processor, but the notebook must have good cooling so that the processors performance is not limited.

The CPU cores of the Intel Core i7-11800H have a base clock frequency of 2.3 GHz. The turbo clock frequencies are 3.4 GHz (load on all eight CPU cores) and even 4.6 GHz when only one CPU core is loaded. The Intel Core i7-11800H is also suitable for professional applications, e.g. in video editing and CAD, due to its high CPU performance for a mobile processor.

For the internal graphics (iGPU), the processor relies on the Intel UHD Graphics 11th Gen with 32 execution units (256 texture shaders). The performance of the iGPU is 0.742 TFLOP/s. Thats not enough for modern PC games in high resolutions. However, most notebooks that rely on the Intel Core i7-11800H are usually also equipped with a powerful, dedicated graphics card.

Up to 128 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM can be installed in notebooks with the Intel Core i7-11800H, 20 PCIe 4.0 lines are available for external devices such as graphics cards or PCIe SSD data carriers. The main memory can be connected to the system via two memory channels.

The Intel Core i7 processor has a 24 MB cache, the mobile processor of the "Tiger Lake" architecture is manufactured in a modern 10 nm process which is comparable to TSMCs 7 nm process. The processor is soldered in the BGA 1787 socket and can therefore not be replaced later.
