V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The Intel Core i5-4570 is a fourth-generation processor from Intels Core i5 series and is based on the Haswell architecture, which is manufactured in the 22-nanometer process. The Intel Core i5-4570 is a desktop processor that requires a motherboard with the LGA 1150 socket.

The Intel Core i5-4570s base clock rate is 3.20 GHz, which can increase to up to 3.60 GHz in turbo mode during high load. However, this high frequency is only possible when a single processor core is utilized. If all 4 physical cores are utilized at the same time, the processor clock increases to a maximum of 3.40 gigahertz.

The processor is equipped with a 6 megabyte cache, supports AES-NI encryption and various virtualization technologies (VT-x, VT-x EPT, VT-d).

The Intel HD Graphics 4600 is used as the graphics unit in the Intel Core i5-4570. This graphics unit has a base clock rate of 0.35 GHz and a maximum dynamic clock rate of 1.10 GHz. Just like the processor, the GPU is manufactured in the 22 nanometer process and has 20 execution and 160 shader units. Thus, the graphics unit reaches a performance of up to 352 Gigaflops with single precision (FP32).

Provided that the motherboard used has enough ports, the graphics unit supports image output on up to 3 screens in parallel.

DDR3 modules with up to 1600 megahertz can be used for the working memory. The processor can handle a maximum of 32 gigabytes of working memory. ECC memory (working memory with automatic error correction) is not supported by the processor.

Expansion cards, such as dedicated graphics cards, can be controlled via the 16 PCI Express 3.0 lines.
