V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The Intel Core i7-4770 is a processor of the fourth generation of Intels Core-i7 series. The processor appeared in the second quarter of 2013 and is based on the "Haswell" architecture, which is manufactured in the 22-nanometer process.

The processor has 4 physical cores, which each with up to 3.40 gigahertz clocks. At full capacity, the CPU switches to the turbomodus, in this mode, the clock increases to up to 3.90 gigahertz when loading a single core. All 4 cores are utilized in parallel, the clock frequency increases at least 3,60 Gigahertz. The Intel Core i7-4770 is not overtaking, but supports Intel Hyperthreading technology.

The 2 existing memory channels support DDR3 or DDR3L memory with 1333 and 1600 megahertz, respectively. The maximum supported memory size of the processor is 32 gigabytes and the maximum memory bandwidth at 25.6 gigabytes per second. ECC memory modules are not supported by Intel Core i7-4770.

The integrated graphics unit bears the name "Intel HD Graphics 4600" us has a base clock frequency of 350 megahertz. In turbomodus, this cycle can increase up to 1.20 gigahertz. The maximum video memory of the graphics processor is 2 gigabytes. Furthermore, the GPU supports the parallel image output on to 3 monitors. The maximum resolution is here at 3840x2160 pixels and 60 Hertz, but this is only achieved through a display port. About VGA is the maximum resolution at 1920x1200 @ 60Hz and but via HDMI at 4096x2304, however, only with 30 Hertz.

The processor has a total of 16 PCI express lines available in version 3.0 and can be connected to the Intel Core i7-4770 via the various additional cards. These include, for example, graphics cards or other network cards.

The Intel Core i7-4770 also supports AES-Ni disk encryption.
