V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

With the Intel Core i5-8250U, Intel now also brings real 4 cores in the U segment. This means that the performance has almost doubled compared to the previous model. In the U segment, you should definitely use an 8th generation (or higher) processor.

The Intel Core i5-8250U clocks its 4 cores with up to 2.3 GHz, the base clock is 1.6 GHz. The processor can accelerate individual cores up to 3.4 GHz. This means that the Intel Core i5-8250U also plays a role in single-core applications.

Thanks to its Hyper-Threading capability, the Intel Core i5-8250U can provide the processor with 8 logical cores. This means that the processor is also suitable for simple virtualization tasks for which you can never have enough logical cores. Thanks to AES-Ni, most encryption tasks are processed directly in hardware with almost no loss of performance. With modern processors it is therefore advisable to protect your drive with Windows’s own Bitlocker encryption.

Intel has given the Intel Core i5-8250U 6 MB level 3 cache. In dual-channel mode, RAM with the standard DDR4-2400 can be installed. It can connect devices via PCIe 3.0 with up to 12 lines, which should be sufficient for most notebooks. In many notebooks, the RAM cannot be retrofitted because it is soldered. Therefore, when buying a notebook, you should make sure that there is either enough RAM installed (8-16 GB) or that the RAM can be upgraded if necessary.

The Intel Core i5-8250U has the Intel UHD Graphics 620 as the internal graphics. This calculates with 24 execution units, which the processor can clock with up to 1.1 GHz. This is sufficient for simple games in full HD resolution. The GPU supports Direct-X 12.

Leaderboards

In our leaderboards, we have clearly compiled the best processors for specific categories for you. The leaderboards are always up to date and are regularly updated by us. The best processors are selected according to popularity and speed in benchmarks as well as the price-performance ratio.
