Description of the processor

The AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4650G is the "little brother" of the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G. The processor, released in the third quarter of 2020, is based on AMDs Renoir architecture and is therefore manufactured using the 7 nanometer process.

The processor has 8 physical cores and an 8 megabyte cache. Thanks to the integrated hyperthreading technology, the 6 physical cores can become up to 12 logical cores in order to be able to carry out more arithmetic operations at once. The basic clock frequency of the processor is 3.70 gigahertz. In turbo mode, the clock frequency can be increased to up to 4.30 gigahertz, and this is not the end of the story either. The AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4650G is overclockable, which means that you can get some performance out of the processor. For this, however, it is absolutely necessary to ensure that the processor is cooled. Even if the processor automatically slows down if it gets too hot, it is not healthy for the CPU.

The graphics unit in the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4650G is the AMD Radeon 7 Graphics, which is also based on the Renoir architecture. The clock frequency of the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) is 1.90 gigahertz and, typical for AMD, has no turbo mode. With its 7 execution and 448 shader units, the ninth generation graphics unit is powerful enough to control up to 3 monitors and the performance will also be sufficient for one or the other small game.

For the main memory, modules of the type DDR4 with a clock frequency of up to 3200 megahertz can be used. A total of up to 64 gigabytes of RAM can be operated with the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4650G. The processor itself even supports working memory with automatic error correction (ECC memory).
