V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The Intel Core i7-1255U was launched by Intel in the first quarter of 2022 and comes from the mobile sector of Intels CPU program. It is only permanently installed and is based on the BGA 1744 socket.

The Intel Core i7-1255U from the Alder Lake U series is manufactured using the 10-nanometer process and is based on a big.LITTLE core architecture. Two performance cores (codename "Golden Cove") with hyperthreading are used here, which have a standard clock of 1.70 gigahertz and can increase to a clock rate of up to 4.70 gigahertz in turbo mode. The 2 performance cores are supported by 8 efficiency cores (codename "Gracemont"). These do not support hyperthreading and have a basic clock frequency of 1.20 gigahertz. The maximum turbo clock of 3.50 gigahertz is also slightly lower than that of the performance cores. Overall, the Intel Core i7-1255U has 10 processor cores and 12 threads.

The Intel Iris Xe Graphics 96 (Alder Lake) is used as the graphics unit. It was also released in the first quarter of 2022 and is also being manufactured with a structure width of 10 nanometers. The iGPU clocks at 0.35 gigahertz and can increase its clock rate to up to 1.25 gigahertz in turbo mode. The iGPU, which comes from the 13th generation of Intels integrated graphics units, has 96 execution units with a total of 768 shaders. With this you achieve a theoretical FP32 computing power (single precision) of 1916 GigaFLOPS.

The Intel Core i7-1255U officially supports the following memory types: DDR4-3200, DDR5-4800, LPDDR4X-4266, LPDDR5-5200. The processor has 2 memory channels with which it is able to be operated with up to 64 gigabytes of RAM. The maximum supported bandwidth of the RAM is 76.8 GB/s.

The Intel Core i7-1255U has 28 PCIs lines in version 4.0 for connecting dedicated graphics cards or other expansion cards.
