Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

With the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G, AMD has a mobile processor with 4 cores and 8 threads on offer. Its base clock frequency is 3.6 GHz. It can increase this to up to 3.9 GHz on one core during load. When multiple CPU cores are loaded, clock frequencies of up to 3.7 GHz are still possible.

Like all desktop Ryzen processors, the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G is overclockable. It has an internal graphics card of the type AMD Radeon Vega 11 with 11 execution units and 704 shaders. The iGPU can clock the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with up to 1.25 GHz. All modern video and picture codecs are supported by the AMD Radeon Vega 11. For example, the processor consumes little energy for video playback of HEVC (h.265) material.

RAM is supported by the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with up to DDR4-2933, but unofficially higher clock frequencies are also possible. The processor has two memory channels and can therefore operate the main memory in dual-channel mode, which doubles the memory bandwidth. This is also very beneficial for the integrated graphics card, which is very dependent on the memory bandwidth, since the main memory is used as graphics memory. The internal graphics unit can reserve a maximum of 16 GB of memory and achieves a theoretical computing power of a maximum of 1.76 Gflops.

The AMD Ryzen 5 2400G has a TDP of 65 watts. This energy budget has to be shared between the CPU and the GPU part of the APU. When overclocking this budget is exceeded significantly and the processor can then also consume more than 100 watts.

The processor was presented in the first quarter of 2018 at a price of around 165 euros. It fits into the widespread and long-used AM4 socket from AMD. The AMD Ryzen 5 2400G is based on the Raven Ridge APU design, which is manufactured as Zen + in 14 nm. The AMD Ryzen 5 2400G has 4 MB level 3 cache.
