V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

The Intel Core i5-9400F is a ninth generation processor from Intels Core i5 series. As you can see from the "F" in the processor designation, this CPU is a processor without an integrated graphics unit. So you definitely need a dedicated graphics card here. Except for the missing graphics unit, the processor is completely identical to the Intel Core i5-9400, but of course it is also a bit cheaper. The F processors are therefore interesting for everyone who wants to use a dedicated graphics card.

The Intel Core i5-9400F has 6 cores that can clock in turbo mode with up to 4.10 gigahertz each. However, this clock rate is only achieved with a single core load, but if all cores are loaded at the same time, the cores still clock at up to 3.90 gigahertz. Incidentally, the standard clock rate of the Intel Core i5-9400F is 2.90 gigahertz. The processor equipped with a 9 megabyte cache does not support hyperthreading, so there are no additional logical cores available.

The Intel Core i5-9400F officially supports DDR4 RAM with up to 2666 megahertz. If the board supports it, RAM with a higher clock frequency can also be used. The two available memory channels support the control of up to 128 gigabytes of RAM. ECC RAM, i.e. working memory with automatic error correction, is unfortunately not supported by the Intel Core i5-9400F.

As mentioned at the beginning, a dedicated graphics card must be used when using the Intel Core i5-9400F. This is connected via the 16 existing PCI-Express 3.0 lines.

The Intel Core i5-9400F was released in the second quarter of 2019, is manufactured in the 14 nanometer process and is based on Intels Coffee Lake Refresh architecture. To buy a motherboard and fan you have to know that the Intel Core i5-9400F requires the Intel socket LGA 1151-2.
