It is manufactured using a 14-nanometer process, in a monolithic chip design, and the official release price is given by AMD as 281 US dollars. The processor was released in the third quarter of 2015 and has a 3.00 megabyte level 3 cache.

The Intel Core i5-6300U consists of 2 physical cores that support Hyperthreading technology, giving the processor 4 computing threads. The base clock of the cores is 2.40 gigahertz and the maximum turbo clock is 3.00 gigahertz. However, the maximum clock rate is only reached when one of the cores is fully utilized. When both cores are utilized, the maximum clock rate is 2.60 gigahertz.

The Intel HD Graphics 520 is the internal graphics unit in the Intel Core i5-6300U. This graphics unit has 24 execution units with 192 shaders and is manufactured with a structure width of 14 nanometers. The iGPU was used for the first time in the third quarter of 2015 and it comes from the ninth generation of Intels internal graphics units. The base clock frequency of the graphics unit is 350 megahertz and the maximum dynamic clock of the graphics unit is 950 megahertz. With this, the Intel UHD Graphics 520 achieves an FP32 computing power (single precision) of 365 GigaFLOPS.

The graphics unit can use a maximum of 32 gigabytes of the RAM installed in the system. The processor itself has 2 memory channels and supports up to 32 gigabytes of RAM. A bandwidth of up to 34.1 GB/s is achieved and the following memory types are officially supported: DDR4-2133, LPDDR3-1866, DDR3L-1600. However, the Intel Core i5-6300U does not support working memory with automatic error correction (ECC working memory).
