The quad-core processor can increase its clock rate to 3.0 GHz if all cores are loaded at the same time. When only one core is loaded, the frequency can even be up to 3.7 GHz. Overclocking the processor is not possible, which is common for a mobile processor.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3500U manufactured in 12 nm relies on AMDs Zen + architecture (Picasso). AMDs APUs are often equipped with relatively powerful graphics cards. The AMD Radeon Vega 8 built into the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U is no exception here and is easily sufficient for small games. The processor is adequately equipped with a 4 MB L3 cache.

Since this is a notebook processor, it is not available separately. The AMD Ryzen 5 3500U has a 2-channel memory interface and can handle DDR4-2400 memory. We recommend that you ensure that the notebook has between 8 and 16 GB of RAM. The graphics unit of the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U benefits a lot from the fast RAM.

The 15 watt processor is not only economical, but also has the option of offering the operating system 8 logical processors thanks to Hyper-Threading. It is roughly on par with an Intel Core i5-8250U, but offers higher graphics performance than its Intel counterpart.
