V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

The AMD Ryzen 7 3700U is a processor for notebooks and other mobile devices. He comes from the Zen + family, which is manufactured in 12 Nm. Compared to the predecessor on Zen-based has not done much except for a small increase in the CPU and the GPU. As IGPU, as the AMD Ryzen 7 2700U, the integrated AMD Radeon Vega 10 Mobile is used with 10 CUs. The computing power is no less than the fastest what you can get in 2019 with integrated graphics cards.

The clock frequencies of the AMD Ryzen 7 3700U are 2.3 GHz in the base. All cores are utilized with correspondingly good cooling up to 3.5 GHz possible. In the case of a single load, the AMD Ryzen is 7 3700U with 4.0 GHz. The 15 watt processor has 4 MB Level 3 cache and was presented in the first quarter of 2019.

It supports memory up to DDR4-2400. Since the speed of the internal graphics unit depends very much from the work memory used, you should make sure that the processor is as fast as possible. It should be 8 to 16 gigabytes in 2019.

The AMD Ryzen 7 3700U supports hyper-threading and doubles the physical cores so on a number of 8 logical processors. This is enough to compete with the current Intel mobile processors. In graphics performance, the AMD Ryzen reaches 7 3700U in a bit of double frame rates such as comparable Intel IGPUs.

The CPU can not be overclocked, which although AMD is untypical (almost all the Ryzen processors can be overclocked on request). The reason is to search in the narrow TDP window: 15 watts are not always enough to provide CPU and GPU with enough energy in the basic clock. Since 15 watts is quasi the standard for normal notebook processors, AMD has probably decided on this path.
