V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The Intel Core i7-3770 comes from the third generation of Intels Core-i7 series and is based on the "Ivy Bridge" architecture from Intels CPU program. The processor is manufactured in the 22-nanometer process and has a TDP of 77 watts.

The total of 4 cores of the Intel Core i7-3770 clock with 3.40 Gigahertz each. This clock frequency can increase up to 3.90 Gigahertz, in the so-called turbomodus. It does not matter if only one or whether all cores will be utilized. The processor supports the hyperthreading technology from Intel and it can, thanks to open multiplier, also overclock. If you want to overclock the Intel Core i7-3770, however, you have to value a decent cooling. This is possible on the one hand through a high-quality fan, for example from Noctua or also convenient, but should the computer housing be chosen so that it suits the cooling concept.

The processor also has its own graphic unit named "Intel HD Graphics 4000". This GPU comes from the seventh generation of Intels graphics units and has a standard memory cycle of 0.65 gigahertz. This increases in turbomodus, ie at full capacity, up to 1.15 gigahertz. The graphics unit equipped with 16 Execution Units (execution units) supports Microsofts DirectX 11.0. If the chosen mainboard supports it, the GPU can supply up to 3 external monitors simultaneously with a pictures.

The processor has 2 memory channels support the DDR3 memory with up to 1600 megahertz. ECC RAM, ie RAM with an automatic error correction, is unfortunately not supported. The size of the L3 cache from the Intel Core i7-3770 is 8.00 megabytes.

The processor of Intel was published in the second quarter of 2012.
