The Intel Core i7-4770 (Haswell S-architecture) was introduced in 2013 and targeted the mainstream desktop market.

It replaced the Intel Core i7-3770 (Ivy Bridge S-architecture), which appeared in 2012 and was also a powerful desktop processor.

Both CPUs were manufactured by Intel using a 22 nm process, feature four cores and eight threads, and offer 8 MB of Level 3 cache. They support PCIe 3.0. The Intel Core i7-4770 has Intel HD Graphics 4600 with a maximum memory bandwidth of 21 GB/s, while the Intel Core i7-3770 offers Intel HD Graphics 4000 with a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s.

In terms of performance, the Intel Core i7-4770 shows advantages. It significantly outperforms the Intel Core i7-3770 in single-core and multi-core performance in Geekbench 6. The Intel Core i7-4770 also shows noticeably higher multi-core performance in Cinebench R23.

This superiority results from the newer Haswell architecture, which brought improvements in instruction per cycle (IPC) performance. For gaming, the Intel Core i7-4770 is more advantageous due to its higher IPC performance, which can lead to better frame rates. Both require a dedicated graphics card for demanding games.

Regarding power consumption and TDP, both are comparable due to the same manufacturing process, with Haswell offering slight efficiency improvements. On the used market, the Intel Core i7-4770 tends to be slightly more expensive due to its better overall performance. The Intel Core i7-3770 remains a solid, more affordable option for everyday tasks.

The Intel Core i7-4770 offers better value for money if the price difference is small, and is the more recommendable choice for more demanding applications.
