Comparison of the two processors

The names of the two processors from this comparison are very similar, the data will tell us whether the processors themselves are. Both processors were released in the first quarter of 2022 and are based on the Alder Lake U architecture. Both models are mobile processors from the twelfth generation of Intel's Core i7 family. They are manufactured with a structure width of 10 nanometers and are designed for the BGA 1744 socket. So far, so same, but in the next section we'll get to the first differences.

The Intel Core i7-1255U is a processor with 10 cores that is built in a hybrid big.LITTLE structure. In addition to 2 Golden Cove performance cores, 8 Gracemont efficiency cores are used here. The performance cores clock at up to 4.70 gigahertz, while the maximum clock speed of the Gracemont cores is 3.50 gigahertz. The Intel Core i7-1260P, on the other hand, is equipped with 12 cores, with the two additional cores being the more powerful Golden Cove type performance cores. The maximum clock speed of these cores is identical to 4.70 gigahertz. In addition, 8 Gracemont efficiency cores are also installed here, but these clock at up to 3.40 gigahertz, but slightly lower. The single-core performance is identical for both processors, but the multi-core performance of the Intel Core i7-1260P is significantly higher.

An internal graphics unit is integrated into both processors. The Intel Iris Xe Graphics with 96 execution units and 768 shaders is used here. In the Intel Core i7-1255U it clocks at up to 1.25 gigahertz, while in the Intel Core i7-1260P it even reaches a maximum clock speed of 1.40.

Both processors have 2 memory channels through which they can be operated with up to 64 gigabytes of RAM.
