Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-1340P is a processor from the Core i5 family from Intels CPU range. This is a processor from the mobile segment, with which it is mainly used in notebooks such as the Samsung Galaxy Book 3, but also in various mini PCs such as the in-house Intel NUC 13 Pro. The Intel Core i5-1340P was released in the first quarter of 2023 and is based on the Raptor Lake U processor architecture. It is manufactured with a structure width of 10 nanometers and has a monolithic chip design. The processor, equipped with a 12 megabyte level 3 cache, can be operated under both Linux and Windows.

The cores of the Intel Core i5-1340P are based on a hybrid big.LITTLE architecture, so 4 performance cores, of the Raptor Cave type, and 8 efficiency cores, of the Gracemont type, are used together. The 4 performance cores have a basic clock frequency of 1.80 gigahertz and the maximum turbo clock is 4.60 gigahertz. The base clock of the 8 efficiency cores is lower at 1.30 gigahertz and the maximum turbo clock is also significantly lower at 3.40 gigahertz. Hyperthreading technology is only supported by the performance cores, so the Intel Core i5-1340P has up to 16 computing heads available.

The Intel Iris Xe Graphics 80 (Alder Lake) is used as the internal graphics unit in the Intel Core i5-1340P. This graphics unit has a base clock frequency of 400 megahertz and the maximum dynamic clock is 1.45 gigahertz. The graphics unit came onto the market a year earlier than the processor, i.e. in the first quarter of 2022, but is also manufactured using the 10-nanometer process. It has 80 execution units with 640 shaders and achieves an FP32 computing power of 1797 GigaFLOPS.

The Intel Core i5-1340P can be operated with up to 64 gigabytes of RAM. The support of the memory types is very extensive, it can be operated with DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 memory.
