Geekbench 6 (Single-Core)

Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

Until the 6th generation, Intels i-processors were no better/faster than the i7 series. The i9 series, which has been available since the 7th generation, is supposed to go one better in terms of performance in the end consumer sector. The Intel Core i9-9900K has a total of 8 cores that clock with 3.60 gigahertz each. In turbo mode, the clock rate increases to up to 5.00 GHz when a single core is loaded, and it still increases to up to 4.70 GHz when all cores are loaded.

The Intel Core i9-9900K supports Intels Hyperthreading technology, which turns the 8 physical cores into 16 logical cores when required. In addition, the processor, which can be recognized by the "K" at the end of the processor name, can also be overclocked. However, you have to pay attention to sufficient cooling when overclocking. You have to make sure that the processor is sufficiently cooled by a powerful CPU cooler, for example from Noctua, but also a good cooling concept of the PC case. A good CPU cooler is of no use as long as the heat is not optimally conducted out of the case.

The graphics unit integrated in the Intel Core i9-9900K is the "Intel UHD Graphics 630" from Intels graphics solution generation 10.5. The graphics units clock rate is 0.35 GHz by default, but can increase up to 1.20 GHz in turbo mode. The graphics unit supports the decoding of all important video codecs, so nothing stands in the way of occasional movie enjoyment.

The 2 available memory channels support DDR4 modules with up to 2666 megahertz in the RAM and a 16 megabyte L3 cache ensures optimal data exchange between RAM and CPU.

The Intel Core i9-9900K, manufactured in the 14-nanometer process, was released in the fourth quarter of 2018.
