AMD Ryzen 7 2700
Benchmarks & Specs

Last updated:
The AMD Ryzen 7 2700 belongs to the Ryzen 7 group of the 2nd generation of Zen processors (Zen +). For the AM4 socket, it is one of the largest expansion stages and, thanks to its 8 cores, is ideally suited as a game processor and also for modern applications (video editing, video decoding and other data-intensive applications).

The 2nd generation of Zen + processors are based on the Pinnacle Ridge CPU design, which does not have an integrated graphics unit. Therefore, the use of a dedicated graphics card is mandatory.

The AMD Ryzen 7 2700 clocks its 8 cores with 3.2 GHz in the base, but can increase this clock on all cores up to 3.6 GHz. If only one core is loaded, even 4.1 GHz are possible. Sufficient cooling is required for high clock rates. The TDP of the processor is 65 watts. However, these are sometimes significantly exceeded in turbo mode.

As with most Ryzen desktop processors, overclocking the AMD Ryzen 7 2700 is possible. A sufficiently dimensioned cooling solution (air cooling or water cooling) is recommended for overclockers in order to keep the clock frequencies as high as possible over the long term.

The AMD Ryzen 7 2700 can connect RAM up to the DDR4-2933 standard via its two memory channels, but higher memory frequencies can also be implemented. The level 3 cache of the processor is 16 megabytes in size, external devices can be connected via PCIe 3.0 with up to 16 lines. Modern encryption and virtualization standards are supported.

AMDs 12 nm processor was presented in the second quarter of 2018 at a starting price of USD 290. For users who need even higher clock frequencies with the same number of cores, AMD offers the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X. Except for the higher clock rates, this is identical to the AMD Ryzen 7 2700.
  • Eight cores and sixteen threads
  • Solid multicore performance
  • 16 MB Level 3 cache
  • PCIe 3.0 support
