Blender is a free 3D graphics software for rendering (creating) 3D bodies, which can also be textured and animated in the software. The Blender benchmark creates predefined scenes and measures the time (s) required for the entire scene. The shorter the time required, the better. We selected bmw27 as the benchmark scene.

A direct comparison of the Intel Core i5-10400F and the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 shows once again the strength that AMD has built up in the field of processors in recent years.

The Intel Core i5-10400F is a 6 core processor with a maximum clock rate in turbo mode of up to 4.3 GHz. So on paper it is faster than the processor from AMD. However, the basic clock rate already shows that the Intel is not on the same level as the AMD. With 2.9 Ghz, the Intel is almost 20% (0.7 GHz) slower.

The Intel Core i5-10400F supports up to 128 GB DDR4 RAM with a clock frequency of 2933.
The 14nm Intel processor is designed for the LGA 1200 socket. Unfortunately, it only offers PCIe 3.0, which among other things does not allow the use of very fast SSD hard drives.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 is a mid-range processor of the Zen 2 architecture and is manufactured in 7 nm. The connection via PCIe 4.0 and 20 PCIe lines also allows him to use the latest hardware components. Since the AMD also supports RAM up to DDR4-3200, it is also a very good companion in a gaming PC. It also has a significantly higher L3 cache. The base of the Ryzen is based on the well-known AM4 platform.

The power consumption of TDP 65W is identical for both processors. The Intel processor is ahead in the price comparison. This comparison also shows that there is more performance for more money.

This can ultimately also be seen in a direct comparison in the benchmarks.
Where the Intel Core i5 is only approx. 11% behind the AMD Ryzen 5 in the latest single-core benchmark from Cinebench, it is already approx. 19% with the multi-core benchmark.

A similar picture emerges in the other benchmarks, e.g. from Geekbench 5. Here, the differences are not that big, but still recognizable.
