The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX is a mobile processor and has 8 cores with 16 threads and comes from the 5th generation of the AMD Ryzen 9 series. The processor uses a motherboard with an FP7 socket and was released in the first quarter of 2022. The predecessor is the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX. The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX has a normal core architecture with a total of 8 Zen 3+ cores. The processor uses Hyperthreading, but cannot be overclocked. It has a base clock frequency of 3.30 GHz, the turbo clock frequency with one core is 4.90 GHz, with the turbo clock frequency with eight cores it is 4.20 GHz.

The AMD Ryzen 6 6900HX has an internal graphics called AMD Radeon RX 680M with a clock frequency of 2.00 GHz. The internal graphics have 12 units with 768 shaders, the maximum GPU memory is 8 GB and it can work with a maximum of 3 displays. The internal graphics are from the 9th generation and support DirectX 12. The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX can decode and encode h265/HEVC (8 bit), h265/HEVC (10 bit), h264, VP8, VP9, AVC and JPEG, as well as Decode AV1 and VC-1.

The processors memory type uses DDR5-4800 and LPDDR5-6400 with a maximum memory of 64 GB and 4 memory channels (quad channel). The maximum bandwidth is 76.8 GB/s. The TDP (Thermal Design Power) is 45 watts and the maximum temperature before the CPU clocks down is 95° C.

The chip design is based on the chiplet concept and the Rembrandt (Zen 3+) architecture. The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX is compatible with Windows 10 and 11, as well as Linux. The full x86-64 instruction set (ISA) is supported, so the processor is fully 64-bit capable and supports the following extensions SSE4a, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX2, FMA3.

The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX received a total of 1,644 points in the Geekbench 5 (64-bit, single-core) test and 10,609 points in the Geekbench 5 (64-bit, multi-core) test.
