The
Intel Core i5-8500T has 6 CPU cores and can process 6 threads at the same time. Intels "Hyper-Threading" technology for doubling the logical processor cores is not supported.
With a low base frequency of just 2.1 GHz, the
Intel Core i5-8500T is quite economical. Intels T processors have less energy available than normal processors, but they work more energy-efficiently in full load scenarios. However, the TDP of the normal processors can also be limited on most mainboards, so that a T-processor can be recreated from any normal Intel processor on the right mainboard.
The clock frequency in the Turbo is 3.5 GHz when only one CPU core is loaded, while the Intel Core i5-8500T still manages 3.0 GHz when multiple cores are loaded. T processors are particularly suitable for computers with long runtimes or when a better cooling solution cannot be installed due to a compact housing. The processors are not suitable for normal gaming computers due to their lower clock frequencies.
The
Intel Core i5-8500T has a UHD Graphics 630 iGPU. This internal graphics is not very powerful and is therefore not suitable for computer games. But it is sufficient for image and video playback.
Up to 128 GB of RAM (DDR4-2666 @ 42.7 GB/s bandwidth in dual channel mode) can be installed in a system with the
Intel Core i5-8500T. Dual-channel mode doubles the memory bandwidth and should therefore always be used. This requires that two RAM modules (e.g. 2x 8 GB or 2 x 16 GB) be installed in the system.
External devices such as a graphics card or a fast M.2 SSD can be connected via PCIe 3.0 (maximum 16 PCIe lines). The TDP of the Intel Core i5-8500T is 95 watts.
