Intel Core i3-1315U vs Apple M3

The Intel Core i3-1315U was released in 2023 and targets users looking for a system for office work and web browsing.

In contrast, the Apple M3 was also introduced in 2023 for the premium segment. The manufacturing of the Intel Core i3-1315U is based on the Raptor Lake U architecture in a 10 nm process with six cores.

The Apple M3 uses a more modern 3 nm process and has eight cores as well as a Level 2 cache of 20 MB. In terms of computing power, the Apple M3 is significantly ahead of the Intel model in benchmarks in both single-core and multi-core areas, with the difference being well over ten percent.

In gaming scenarios, the Apple M3 proves to be stronger thanks to the integrated Apple M3 graphics unit. The Intel Iris Xe Graphics 64 of the Intel Core i3-1315U only offers basic performance for visual tasks. While the Intel chip operates with a memory bandwidth of 83 GB/s and a Level 3 cache of 10 MB, the Apple chip benefits from a bandwidth of 102 GB/s.

Both units are optimized for low thermal design power, but the efficiency of the 3 nm architecture is superior. In terms of price, the Intel Core i3-1315U can be found in affordable devices, representing an attractive price-performance ratio for basic users. The Apple M3 is more expensive but offers more performance for creative workflows.

For office work, the Intel Core i3-1315U is an economical choice; for more demanding tasks, the Apple M3 is recommended.
