The Intel Core i7-8500Y was once specifically designed for very thin and fanless devices. It is based on the efficient Amber Lake Y architecture and is manufactured using the proven 14 nm process. This was an important step for compact designs at the time. One of its greatest strengths is its remarkably low power consumption.

This allowed this processor to enable long battery life in laptops and tablets, which is always a great advantage on the go. We see that it is still a quite usable option for everyday tasks today. Surfing the Internet, editing documents, or streaming media content are smooth with it. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 615 takes care of the image output.

It delivers reliable visual performance for basic applications. The Intel Core i7-8500Y is not intended for computationally intensive programs or modern games. Nevertheless, it still impresses with its economy. It can provide mobile devices with sufficient computing power for common applications. Its 4 MB Level 3 Cache supports fast data processing.
