V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

Benchmarks

The Intel Core i5-4460 was released in the second quarter of 2014 and is based on the Haswell Refresh architecture from Intel. The processor has 4 cores that clock at 3.20 gigahertz. In turbo mode with single core utilization, the clock frequency increases to up to 3.40 gigahertz, with multi-core utilization at least to 3.30 gigahertz. Hyperthreading and overclocking are not supported by this processor, but it is still quite powerful.

The Intel Core i5-4460 officially supports DDR3 memory modules with up to 1600 megahertz and is controlled by the processor via 2 available memory channels. The PCI-Express connection is in version 3.0 and a total of 16 PCI-Express lines are available for communication.

The Intel Core i5-4460 supports AES-NI encryption as well as the Intel virtualization technologies VT-x, VT-x EPT and VT-d.

The Intel graphics unit “Intel HD Graphics 4600” is integrated in the processor, which clocks at 0.35 gigahertz as standard and can increase to 1.10 gigahertz in turbo mode. The graphics performance develops the GPU over 20 execution units and supports the graphics output on up to 3 screens.

The 22 nanometer Intel Core i5-4460 has a 6 megabyte L3 cache and a TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 84 watts. This is of course also reflected in the power consumption, because the Intel Core i5-4460 is not one of the models that have a low power consumption. Here you should use a more up-to-date CPU that not only increases speed due to a smaller manufacturing process but is also significantly more economical in terms of power consumption.

If you are looking for a processor cooler for the Intel Core i5-4460, you have to look for a cooler that is compatible with the LGA 1150 socket.
