Intel Celeron N5100 vs Raspberry Pi 4 B (Broadcom BCM2711)

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N5100 is based on the Jasper Lake architecture and is manufactured using a 10 nanometer process.

This processor is aimed at users of affordable notebooks and compact office computers. It has four cores and four threads. With a Level 3 cache of 4 megabytes and a memory bandwidth of 47 gigabytes per second, it offers a solid foundation for everyday tasks. In benchmarks, the Intel Celeron N5100 shows significantly higher single-core performance than the model from Broadcom.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 execution units enables simple graphics tasks but is not designed for modern games. With a Thermal Design Power of 6 watts, the unit operates very energy-efficiently. In terms of price, it is usually permanently built into complete systems. The heart of the Raspberry Pi 4 B is the Broadcom BCM2711 based on the Cortex-A72 architecture.

Manufactured in a 28 nanometer process, it is designed for DIY projects and simple server applications. It has four cores and four threads but does not have a Level 3 cache. The memory bandwidth is 13 gigabytes per second, which is significantly lower than the Intel model. In terms of computing power, the Broadcom BCM2711 lags noticeably behind the Intel Celeron N5100.

The Broadcom VideoCore VI graphics unit is optimized for media playback but offers hardly any reserves for classic games. The focus is on minimal power consumption and a very favorable price for specific areas of application. While the Intel Celeron N5100 is better suited for office tasks, the Raspberry Pi 4 B impresses with its flexibility.
