Intel Celeron N4100 vs Intel Celeron N5100

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N4100, based on the Gemini Lake architecture, was designed for energy-efficient and cost-effective devices.

It is manufactured using the 14nm process and features four cores, four threads, and 4 MB of Level 3 Cache. In contrast, the Intel Celeron N5100 is based on the Jasper Lake architecture, benefits from a more advanced 10nm manufacturing process, and also offers four cores and four threads, complemented by 2 MB of Level 2 Cache and 4 MB of Level 3 Cache.

In terms of computing performance, the Intel Celeron N5100 delivers significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance than the Intel Celeron N4100, resulting in better application responsiveness and smoother multitasking. For gaming scenarios, both processors, due to their integrated graphics solutions – Intel UHD Graphics 600 in the Intel Celeron N4100 and Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Jasper Lake) in the Intel Celeron N5100 – are only suitable for very simple or older titles.

The graphics unit of the Intel Celeron N5100 offers noticeably better performance. The maximum memory bandwidth is 38 GB/s for the Intel Celeron N4100 and 47 GB/s for the Intel Celeron N5100. Both processors are characterized by very low power consumption and a low Thermal Design Power (TDP), making them ideal for fanless designs and devices with long battery life.

The price-performance ratio of the Intel Celeron N4100 is attractive for very budget-friendly basic devices. The Intel Celeron N5100 offers improved overall performance in the entry-level segment, which can justify a slightly higher price, but enables a better user experience for everyday tasks.
