Intel Celeron N4100 vs Intel Celeron 5205U

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N4100 was developed for affordable, mobile devices such as netbooks or fanless mini-PCs.

Manufactured in a 14-nanometer process, the processor uses the Gemini Lake architecture and features four cores and four threads. In multi-core performance, it is significantly ahead of its competitor, which is due to the higher number of cores and a larger cache. The memory bandwidth is also significantly higher at 38 GB/s.

For graphical tasks, Intel UHD Graphics 600 is used, although the gaming performance is only sufficient for very simple titles. Thanks to a low thermal design power, the chip operates efficiently and enables compact designs without fans. It provides a solid foundation for office work and media consumption with low energy consumption.

The price-performance ratio is considered advantageous for simple multitasking tasks in the entry-level segment. The Intel Celeron 5205U is based on the Comet Lake U architecture and is primarily intended for use in low-cost notebooks.

It is manufactured in a 14-nanometer process, but only has two cores and two threads. While single-core performance varies depending on the test environment, the total computing capacity for parallel applications is lower due to the smaller number of cores. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics (Comet Lake) handles basic video output but is not suitable for demanding games.

The thermal design power is higher than the comparison model, which usually requires active cooling. With a memory bandwidth of 17 GB/s, the data throughput is limited in comparison. The focus is on basic systems for web applications. Overall, the Intel Celeron N4100 is recommended for broader areas of application, while the Intel Celeron 5205U represents a solution for the simplest requirements.
