Intel Celeron N2940 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron N2940, based on the Bay Trail architecture and manufactured in 22 nm, was designed for entry-level devices such as older notebooks and tablets.

It features four cores and four threads. The processing performance, both in single-core and multi-core areas, is significantly lower than that of the Intel Processor N100.

The integrated graphics solution, Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail GT1), is designed for basic tasks and offers no significant performance for modern applications or games with a maximum memory bandwidth of 21 GB/s. This processor is characterized by very low power dissipation, which allowed its use in passively cooled systems.

Devices with this processor are mostly found in the lower price segment or on the used market. The Intel Processor N100 belongs to the newer Alder Lake N architecture and is manufactured using the more efficient 10 nm process. It is intended for modern, energy-efficient entry-level devices such as mini-PCs or thin clients and also offers four cores and four threads designed for efficiency.

Compared to the Intel Celeron N2940, the Intel Processor N100 delivers significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance. The integrated graphics unit, Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake), is more powerful and benefits from a higher maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s, enabling smoother display in everyday applications.

For gaming, both processors are only conditionally suitable, with the Intel Processor N100 offering slight advantages due to its more modern graphics unit and higher bandwidth. It offers a better price-performance ratio for current standard applications.
