Intel Celeron J3455 vs Intel Celeron N4100

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron J3455 was introduced as part of the Apollo Lake architecture for budget desktop systems.

It is aimed at users with simple requirements such as web browsing or office work. Manufactured using the 14-nanometer process, this processor has four cores and four threads. The architecture offers an L3 cache of 2 megabytes and a memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s. In benchmarks, the Intel Celeron J3455 shows solid basic performance.

However, compared to the rival model, single-core performance lags by more than ten percent, which affects responsiveness. It also achieves lower values in multi-core scenarios. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 500 is hardly suitable for gaming, as it was designed only for simple graphical tasks. The Thermal Design Power is 10 watts.

The price-performance ratio is particularly relevant for very inexpensive basic systems. The Intel Celeron N4100 is based on the Gemini Lake architecture and targets the entry-level market for compact computers.

Like its counterpart, it uses the 14-nanometer process with four cores and four threads. A key difference is the 4-megabyte L3 cache and the 38 GB/s memory bandwidth. These technical features lead to over ten percent better single-core and multi-core performance. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600 offers slightly improved graphics but remains limited to multimedia.

With a Thermal Design Power of only 6 watts, the Intel Celeron N4100 is particularly economical. It offers a better ratio of performance to energy consumption. Due to its higher efficiency and better computing power, the Intel Celeron N4100 is recommended for efficient systems, while the Intel Celeron J3455 is primarily found in very low-priced solutions.
