Intel Celeron J3160 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Celeron J3160, based on the Braswell architecture, was introduced for energy-efficient and cost-effective systems that handle basic tasks.

It uses a 14 nm manufacturing process, features four cores and four threads, as well as 0 MB L2 cache and 2 MB L3 cache. Its integrated Intel HD Graphics 400 and a maximum memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s limit multimedia performance. The computing power is very basic for modern applications, which is reflected in significantly lower values in single-core and multi-core measurements.

The Intel Processor N100, part of the modern Alder Lake N architecture, targets similar segments but offers significantly improved performance.

Manufactured using a 10 nm process, it also has four Gracemont cores and four threads, supported by 4 MB L2 cache and 6 MB L3 cache. Its Intel UHD Graphics (24 EUs) and a maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s enable superior multimedia and gaming performance in simple games. The computing power of the Intel Processor N100 is considerably higher, in both single-core and multi-core tasks.

Both processors have a similar Thermal Design Power (TDP), which makes them ideal for energy-efficient, passively cooled systems. The Intel Celeron J3160 is an older model, primarily for ultra-low-cost niche applications. The Intel Processor N100 offers a much better price-performance ratio for current requirements, as it delivers significantly higher performance with comparable efficiency.

For most current entry-level use cases, the Intel Processor N100 is the clear recommendation.
