Intel Atom N2600 vs AMD C-60

Last updated:
The Intel Atom N2600 was introduced in 2011 as part of the Cedarview architecture and primarily targets netbooks and power-saving tablets.

Manufactured using the 32-nanometer process, this processor has two computing cores and four threads. In synthetic benchmarks, the Intel Atom N2600 shows higher performance in single-core calculations compared to its competitor. The integrated Intel GMA 3600 graphics unit is designed for simple video formats but reaches its limits with more graphically demanding tasks.

With a thermal design power of 3.5 watts, the power consumption is very low. The memory bandwidth is 9 GB/s, the Level 2 cache is 0 MB, and the Level 3 cache is 1 MB. The price-performance ratio is interesting for users looking for an extremely economical system for pure word processing. This processor is recommended for users where battery life and silent operation are the priority.

The AMD C-60 is based on the Ontario architecture and also appeared in 2011 for mobile devices.

It is manufactured using the 40-nanometer process and offers two cores without additional multithreading. While the pure computing power per core is below that of the Intel model, the AMD C-60 offers advantages in gaming scenarios. This is due to the integrated AMD Radeon HD 6290, which is technically more flexible than Intel's graphics solution.

The thermal design power is higher at 9 watts, which often requires active cooling. Here, too, the maximum memory bandwidth is 9 GB/s, the Level 2 cache is 0 MB, and the Level 3 cache is 1 MB. In terms of price-performance ratio, this processor scores well in applications that benefit from the slightly stronger graphics unit without incurring high acquisition costs.

The model is the better choice for compact media players where smooth video playback is more important than system speed.
