Intel Atom C3558 vs Intel Processor N100

Last updated:
The Intel Atom C3558 (Denverton) was designed for server and network environments. The Intel Processor N100 (Alder Lake N), on the other hand, is aimed at budget-conscious desktop users and office systems.

The Intel Atom C3558 is manufactured using the 14 nm process, while the Intel Processor N100 uses the more efficient 10 nm process. Both models have four cores and four threads. The Intel Atom C3558 offers 8 MB L2 cache without L3 cache, whereas the Intel Processor N100 has 4 MB L2 and 6 MB L3 cache.

In benchmarks, the Intel Processor N100 shows significantly higher single-core performance than the Intel Atom C3558. The latter is primarily designed for constant loads in network infrastructure. Without an integrated graphics unit, the Intel Atom C3558 is unsuitable for gaming.

The Intel Processor N100, with Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs, offers basic functions for simple graphical tasks but is not sufficient for graphically demanding games. The power consumption of the Intel Atom C3558 is at a TDP of 16 watts with a memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s. In contrast, the Intel Processor N100 is much more efficient with only 6 watts TDP and a bandwidth of 38 GB/s.

The Intel Processor N100 is recommended for quiet Mini-PCs or office solutions. The Intel Atom C3558 remains the preferred choice for permanent network services such as firewalls, where stability and specific cache design are more important than pure single-core performance.
