Apple M4 vs Intel Core Ultra 7 256V

The Apple M4, based on the M4 architecture, was introduced in May 2024 and is designed for Apple's own devices such as iPads and Macs, aiming for maximum performance with excellent energy efficiency within the Apple ecosystem.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 256V, codenamed Lunar Lake, is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2024 for thin and light laptops.

It targets users who require mobile performance, advanced integrated graphics, and AI capabilities in the Windows environment. Both processors are manufactured using an advanced 3-nm fabrication process, indicating high efficiency. The Apple M4 features a 20 MB L2 cache and an Apple M4 (10 Core) graphics unit.

In benchmarks, the Apple M4 shows significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance. Performance differences in Geekbench 6 and Cinebench 2024 are over 10 percent in all measured cases in favor of the Apple M4, highlighting its superior computing power.

For gaming, the Apple M4, with its integrated graphics unit and strong CPU performance, provides a very good foundation. The Intel Core Ultra 7 256V also features modern integrated graphics (Intel Arc 140V) and a slightly higher maximum memory bandwidth of 137 GB/s compared to the Apple M4's 120 GB/s.

Both are designed for high energy efficiency; the Apple M4 is particularly known for its performance per watt. A direct price-performance evaluation is not possible, as both are sold as integrated components and not individually.
